Fleeing The Floods of Siam

After a nerve wracking night of trying to figure out what was happening we left for the airport Friday morning.  Riding on the skytrain to the airport we could see canals overflowing their banks and rice paddies totally flooded and houses clearly under some water.  The airport was OK and operating normally though and we finally flew out in the afternoon on Royal Jordan Air, a not quite ready for prime time airline.  But it got us to Kuala Lampur after flying around 300 km out of the way for reasons unclear.  We took the express high speed train to the city and then because it was dark and pouring rain decided not to fight our way through the subway system and took a cab to the hotel.  That proved a good choice.

Nice to say that at the end of the day’s journey we have a pretty luxurious place for a couple of days and are enjoying the opportunity to relax and explore.
